FULL BODY CHARACTER
The Harpy Maiden
The initial reason I decided to apply to Gnomon for their certificate program was because I found a healthy obsession with figurative sculpting, taught by John Brown!
The Very first Character Sculpture 1 Class I took happened to also be my first Gnomon class and my first time diving into sculpture seriously.

My first project I really wanted to challenge myself, despite not really knowing much about sculpture- I knew how I wanted to execute my goal and how I wanted my character to read!
Above are some shots of the final outcome!
I was inspired by Frank Frazetta's artwork mostly, especially the way he emphasizes anatomy on the female figure. I wanted to create a strong female character, who- in a moment of sheer will- breaks her chains.
THE SWAN
CHARACTER BUST
My second journey into sculpture was to then create a Character Bust! This project in particular was a huge challenge as the scale of it quite literally was its own heavyweight obstacle! Using NSP Medium clay, I created her just a bit larger than human scale, and because her design included a swan-like neck, this meant that gravity was going to be a huge factor in her assembly and how things were going to hold!
